These awards honor project teams and individuals whose work reflects the highest standards of integrated project delivery across Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

About the Awards

What the DBIA-SE Awards Represent

DBIA Southeast Region awards celebrate projects and teams that go beyond simply meeting scope, schedule, and budget. Award recipients exemplify advanced and innovative applications of design-build, delivering best-value solutions through early collaboration, shared risk, and integrated teamwork.

Winning projects demonstrate:

  • Effective interdisciplinary collaboration from the earliest stages

  • Acceptance and management of single-entity responsibility

  • Innovative solutions to project challenges

  • Measurable value delivered to Owners and communities

On-time, on-budget, and litigation-free delivery is a baseline expectation, not a differentiator. Awards are granted for excellence in execution and leadership in design-build delivery.

HOW THE AWARDS PROGRAM WORKS

A Clear, Fair, and
Peer-Driven Process

The DBIA-SE Awards Program mirrors the intent and rigor of the national DBIA awards framework, while focusing specifically on projects delivered within the Southeast Region.

The process:

  1. Review award categories and eligibility requirements
  2. Prepare and submit your project entry
  3. Entries are evaluated by industry peers using Design-Build Done Right® criteria
  4. Winners are notified and recognized at the DBIA-SE Awards Celebration

Awards may be presented at multiple levels of distinction, based on merit.

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT

Eligible Project Teams

Submissions are encouraged from integrated design-build teams whose projects were delivered using a design-build procurement method and demonstrate best practices in collaboration and execution.

Eligible submitters may include:

  • Owners

  • Design-build firms

  • Designers and builders as part of an integrated team

Projects must be located within the DBIA Southeast Region footprint or delivered by teams active within the region.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Reflecting Excellence

DBIA-SE awards recognize excellence across a range of project types and achievements. Categories may include, but are not limited to:

  • Design-Build Project of the Year

  • Civic and Public Sector Projects

  • Commercial and Private Sector Projects

  • Industrial or Infrastructure Projects

  • Specialty or Small Projects

  • Design Excellence

  • Construction Excellence

  • Innovation in Design-Build

  • Owner Leadership in Design-Build

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Judging Done Right

Entries are evaluated against DBIA’s nationally recognized Design-Build Done Right® principles, including:

  • Early and effective collaboration

  • Integration of design and construction disciplines

  • Innovation in problem-solving

  • Risk management and accountability

  • Value delivered to the Owner

  • Overall quality of execution

Judging emphasizes how the project was delivered, not just the final outcome.
